What is the Difference Between Wired Glass and Regular Glass?
- Core Safety Difference: As a type of safety glass, wired glass has embedded metal wire mesh. Unlike regular glass that breaks into sharp flying fragments, its broken pieces remain firmly attached to the mesh, eliminating injury risks. Regular glass has no such anti-splash and shatterproof performance.
- Fire Resistance: Wired glass can effectively block flame spread and will not burst under high temperature, meeting global building fire protection codes. Regular glass has no fire-resistant function and will crack and shatter rapidly in a fire.
- Anti-theft Performance: Even if the glass is cut or broken, the internal metal mesh remains as a solid barrier, with superior anti-burglary performance that regular glass cannot match.
- Mechanical Performance: The embedded wire mesh greatly improves the glass’s flexural strength, impact resistance and thermal shock resistance, making it more suitable for high-rise buildings, vibration-prone factories and outdoor scenes than regular glass.
- Decorative Flexibility: Wired glass supports customizable mesh patterns, colors and shapes, balancing light transmission, privacy and decorative effect, while regular glass has a single function and limited decorative performance.
